West Bengal Health Scheme – 2008 was introduced by the Govt. of West Bengal in September, 2008. After going through the contents in detail of the scheme, this department feels to reach out the futilities of the scheme to all the staffers of this Department resulting formation of medical cell of this Department in August 2009.
This Medical cell is for providing the required medical assistance in all respects to the employees of W.B.G.S. and W.B.S.S. categories attached to this department as well as the retired employees from those categories who have already come or yet to come under the ambit of the scheme.
i) issues certificate of enrolment in Form B after receiving application for enrolment in Form ‘A’ for becoming a member under this scheme from willing employees along with their dependable family members.
ii) issues Medical Identity cards to the employees concerned along with their beneficiaries.
ii) makes arrangement for medical advance and medical re-imbursement as the case may be, for treatment in any Health Institution prescribed under the W.B.H.S.-2008.
iv) mitigates any problem in consultation with the medical cell of Finance Department.
v) plays an important roll in convincing the employees of this department for coming under the fold of this scheme.
Thus this Medical Cell has been performing a very important function since its inception.
This cell has been initially constituted with 7 (seven) number of employees in addition to their normal duties in other cells and it has been felt to man this cell with more staff exclusively meant for the cell in near future.
